Just a half hour drive from our African View Lodge, near the town Tengeru is Lake Duluti. This small crater lake is situated in a forest reserve which offers a circular trail around the edge of the lake as well as canoeing. Here one can paddle in a canoe around the lake with experienced guides and enjoy the peaceful scenery. With a bit of luck, fish eagles or monitor lizards can be seen too sunning themselves on the banks of the lake or, swimming in the water. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, one of the biggest and most colourful markets in northern Tanzania takes place in Tengeru – combined with a canoeing trip on Lake Duluti, this makes for a wonderful day out!
